My Favourite Series (Ryan)

Written and Edited By: Ryan

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always been fascinated with visual storytelling, especially animated ones. Here is a list of my top 10 favourite movie/tv series.

Warnings! Spoilers ahead!

1: Ninjago

My number 1 contender, Ninjago has been a staple of my childhood.

The plot centred around a group of ninjas who wields elemental powers and they must fight against various enemies, factions, and armies to save the realm of Ninjago. From Samukai and the Skulkins all the way to the Overlord and his Crystal Army, the ninjas learn cooperation and perseverance to defeat their foes. Now, with all the realms combined to create the Merged Realms and assisted with a new generation of ninjas, they now have to defeat multiple new enemies to protect the integrity of the new merged lands.

2: SolarBalls

My second favourite animated series, SolarBalls is an educational web series about talking planets and celestial bodies going on adventures and learning about astronomy.

The show began from short educational videos to full on episodic arcs from the chaotic Moon Revolution to learning the truth about the Earth’s past, this show is a staple for those interested in astronomy or just general animation and storytelling.

Currently, they are about to wrap up their newest arc: The Rogue Planet Arc, and I am genuinely excited to see what this arc has to offer at the end.

3: Spongebob

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Spongebob Squarepants!

Created in 1999 by Stephen Hillenburg, Spongebob has become a childhood favourite for many generations to come.

4: Smurfs

Another core childhood favourite, the Smurfs is created by Belgian cartoonist Peyo.

5: Wild Kratts

Wild Kratts actually made me interested in animals and biology as a side-passion. Created in 2011 by the Kratt Brothers, this shows talks about animated versions of the real life Kratt Brothers alongside fictional characters to learn more about the animal kingdom. With villains who want to exploit animals for their own evil purposes, the Wild Kratts must stop them using creature power suits and disks that allows them to transform and gain the abilities of a selected animal.

6: Super Wings

Ever since the COVID lockdowns, Super Wings brought me comfort and joy during difficult times. About anthropomorphic planes who can transform into robots, the main character is Jett, a red delivery plane who is tasked with delivering items to children around the world and learning new languages and cultures. Whenever there is trouble, he would call his friends the Super Wings for assistance.

7: Dino Dan Series

8: Justin Time

9: Backyardigans

10: Max & Ruby
